Spring is Here!

The girls and I are all excited about spring.
We celebrated by baking these flower cupcakes
out of marshmallows and colored sugar.

Kite Flying

It was 70 degrees the other day here in Price, with a good brisk wind so we went out flying kites. We have the perfect spot a few blocks from home. It's a wide open field with no trees or power lines. I think spring might finally be here!

Daddy's Girl

Ember is getting bigger every day! Looking at Mike's baby pictures, she looks so much like her daddy! It would be nice if she'd start sleeping through the night. We've tried everything. Maybe it's from spending nine months working graveyards with mom!

Cassie at the Science Fair

Cassie won second place in the Health and Medicine division at the science fair. She had taken a prenatal class to get ready to be in the room during her sister's birth and the nurse told us that breastfed babies are smarter and decided to test this. She gave a random IQ test to a group of her friends and had their mothers fill out a questionnaire about how long they were breastfed. Turns out the bottle fed kids scored higher!

Ember had her first taste of real foods the other day. We started her on applesauce because she had had juice before and I thought she might do better with a familiar flavor. I was expecting to just get a few bites down her but she ended up scarfing it down! She loved it.
The carrots we tried next didn't go over as well but she practically attacked the spoon when we gave her mashed potatoes! They're the best if you ask her!

Happy Holidays

Just before Thanksgiving my computer started giving me fits so I couldn't blog anything. We're back up now so I'm putting all our busy holiday fun onto one huge posting:

We had Thanksgiving at our house for the first time this year. My dad, mom, brother Bill and his family were able to come. We almost didn't all fit, but we all pitched in on the food and it turned out great!

After having Thanksgiving in Price, we headed down to Moab to visit Mike's side of the family. Ember met a few of her cousins for the fist time. Everyone was tired when we got home, so it was time for a nap with dad.

The last Sunday in November Mike blessed Ember at my mom's ward in Moab. Ember wore a christening gown made by grandma.

The very next weekend, we went up to Salt Lake for the Dalton Christmas party. Jessica and Lorna also came and brought Lorna's kids. It's a good thing or I woun't have known anyone there! Everyone turned out to be really nice though and we all had a good time.

(I have no idea who this person is, but one of the kids took his picture because he looks like Edward from the Twilight movie.)

Finally- Christmas morning, it's almost over!

The Trouble with the Bouncer

Ember loves hanging out in her bouncer which was a gift from some of the nurses at the hospital (thanks ladies!) It's the only thing that she'll sit contented in for any amount of time while she's awake! There is one problem though.....




Ginger!!!
It places the baby at the perfect level for this short legged, baby-loving weenie-dog!

Corrina got her braces on Thursday. She said it didn't hurt while they were being put on but she was sure sore that night! The plan is to have them on for 18-24 months then it's time for a retainer!
