Happy Holidays

Just before Thanksgiving my computer started giving me fits so I couldn't blog anything. We're back up now so I'm putting all our busy holiday fun onto one huge posting:

We had Thanksgiving at our house for the first time this year. My dad, mom, brother Bill and his family were able to come. We almost didn't all fit, but we all pitched in on the food and it turned out great!

The last Sunday in November Mike blessed Ember at my mom's ward in Moab. Ember wore a christening gown made by grandma.

The very next weekend, we went up to Salt Lake for the Dalton Christmas party. Jessica and Lorna also came and brought Lorna's kids. It's a good thing or I woun't have known anyone there! Everyone turned out to be really nice though and we all had a good time.

(I have no idea who this person is, but one of the kids took his picture because he looks like Edward from the Twilight movie.)

Finally- Christmas morning, it's almost over!
GOOD NIGHT!

The Trouble with the Bouncer

Ember loves hanging out in her bouncer which was a gift from some of the nurses at the hospital (thanks ladies!) It's the only thing that she'll sit contented in for any amount of time while she's awake! There is one problem though.....

Ginger!!!
It places the baby at the perfect level for this short legged, baby-loving weenie-dog!

"What's that smell?!"

Moving in for the kiss....

"Got ya!"

Corrina got her braces on Thursday. She said it didn't hurt while they were being put on but she was sure sore that night! The plan is to have them on for 18-24 months then it's time for a retainer!

More Baby Pictures

Here are some more pictures of Ember just after she was born being held by grandma, sisters, and her proud father. I would have put a picture of Mike with his eyes open but I don't think such a picture exists!

New Baby

On October 16 we got our new baby girl, Ember Naylene Dalton! We had gone to the doctor for a check up that morning and found that we were dilated to a three so we went ahead and had labor started because I knew I wouldn't last long anyway and was worried that I'd go into labor while Mike was at work and he wouldn't be able to get there in time. It was probably a good thing too because we got to the hospital about noon and she was born at 3:59! She weighed 7 lbs, 1 oz and is 20 inches long. Here are some of the pictures they take in the hospital.

Cassie and Corrina get to be in the delivery room and saw her be born. It was a neat, educational experience for them! Now they won't stop fighting over who gets to hold her! I'm taking 12 weeks off of work, so I get all the holidays off! Now all I have to do is loose this weight! Katie actually asked me if there was still another baby in there!

Great Weekend

This weekend Mike and I had the opportunity to go to the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference. We headed to Salt Lake Friday afternoon and stopped at the Provo temple and did sealings and a session. I was making the temple workers nervous with my belly! They kept trying to get me to use the elevator and kept asking me if I was alright! I think they were scared I was going to go into labor right there and ruin the carpet or something! But it was a good way to start the weekend and get into the right spirit for conference.
We stayed with my grandma in Salt Lake and watched the morning session from her house. It was nice to spend some time with family, but it would have been nicer if Uncle Dewy hadn't been snoring through the talks and then trying to blame Grandma! We took the Trax up to Temple Square which was a really good thing because traffic was a nightmare! There were a few protestors outside but not bad. Still I was glad the kids weren't there to witness that part of it. It was a wonderful session with inspirational talks. Afterward, Mike got to attend the priesthood session and hear The Prophet speak. I was glad of this because I got to hear him at Woman's Conference last spring and wanted him to experience the spirit felt when you hear a living prophet speak! It's just not the same when you're at home sitting in your pajamas!
Although I missed the girls, who stayed with grandpa, it was a great experience!

Corrina's Reptile Birthday Party

We just had Corrina's 12th birthday party. Yes, I know her birthday was on the 15 but we do things when we can. Anyway, we had Shane from "Scales and Tails of Utah" do a show and it was awesome! Imagine the crocodile hunter in your living room (well sort of.) He turned out to be a very talented entertainer that really kept the kids enthralled the whole time (one hour) and was educational too.

He brought all sorts of “creepy crawlies,” including scorpions (one of which he put in his mouth to show it was safe, yuck!) although he didn’t’ let the kids touch it, and a tarantula!

He also brought an alligator skull (apparently it is against the law in Utah to own a live alligator) and a giant iguana. Corrina got to participate the show by holding some of the animals while Shane talked about them.

Katie’s very favorite animal was “Twinkle Toes,” the giant tortuous that the kids got to pet!

This is Corrina holding “Slice,” a milk snake and “Charlie Brown,” a boa constrictor.

Shane tied Corrina and Cassie together with “Bubbles,” a reticulated python!

Corrina holding “Peaches,” an albino bermese python.

This is several of the kids holding “Squish,” a bermese python who is 14 ½ feet long and 137 lbs!

Corrina buried in snakes, including Squish!

Grandma holding Squish all by herself!

Katie holding Peaches and petting Squish!

Cassie and Charlie Brown.

Katie and “Fuzzy Wuzzy,” the not so fuzzy tortoise.

Shane gave Corrina a T-shirt with a picture of Squish on it that said "Easter might be coming late this year." Apparently Squish eats rabbits!

If anyone is curious about these animals you can go to scalesandtailsutah.com and check them all out. If you live in Utah, I would highly recomend them!
